Mr. Larson serves as Executive Chairman of Acacia. In addition to guiding Acacia’s strategic direction and providing general management and leadership, Mr. Larson serves as a member of Acacia’s internal investment committee. Mr. Larson’s background includes BA and MBA degrees from Stanford University, as well as investment banking experience with Morgan Stanley & Co. in New York City. He has been actively involved as a principal in real estate development, financing, asset management and work-out transactions for over three decades.
Investment Committee
Mr. Leupold joined Acacia in 1994 and serves as Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Leupold is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of Acacia and serves as a member of Acacia’s internal investment committee. Mr. Leupold has extensive experience in the acquisition, financing, management and disposition of both residential and commercial property. Prior to joining Acacia, Mr. Leupold headed the Asset Sales Group of Union Bank where he was responsible for portfolio sales of non-performing investments and real estate owned (REO). Mr. Leupold also held management positions in Union Bank’s Special Assets Division and Real Estate Lending Group. He received a BA degree from the University of California at San Diego.
Mr. Clelland founded Acacia with Robert Larson and currently serves as Advisory Director. He is also a member of Acacia’s internal investment committee. Mr. Clelland’s background includes BA and MBA degrees from Stanford University, as well as corporate finance experience with Morgan Stanley & Co. in New York City. Before joining Acacia, Mr. Clelland was the president of a real estate investment firm and a founder of SunVen Partners, an Arizona-based venture capital fund. He has been actively involved as a principal in real estate development, financing, asset management and work-out transactions for over three decades.
Mr. Darling joined Acacia in 2002 and serves as Chief Operating Officer with management responsibilities in its Income Property Division. He is also a member of Acacia’s internal investment committee. He has extensive experience in the acquisition, financing, and disposition of income property throughout the western United States. Prior to joining Acacia, he was responsible for the western region acquisition activity of Lend Lease, a large pension fund advisor. Mr. Darling also oversaw dispositions and financing activity for AEW Capital Management and was a bank analyst for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. He holds an AB degree in economics from Princeton University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Mr. Malouf, who was an employee of Acacia for 15 years, now serves as an Advisory Director and a member of Acacia’s internal investment committee. Prior to joining Acacia, Mr. Malouf was a co-owner of Malouf Brothers Homes, a homebuilding company located in Phoenix. Mr. Malouf managed all aspects of residential and commercial development of Malouf Brothers Homes for 20 years and expanded Malouf Brothers Homes to a staff of 80 people. He holds an Arizona General Contractor License and received a BS degree from Arizona State University.
Ms. Lindberg joined Acacia in 1998 and serves as Chief Investment Officer with oversight over the acquisition, financing and selling of multifamily property. While at Acacia, she has been actively involved in asset management, acquisitions, and dispositions. She is also a member of Acacia's internal investment committee. Prior to joining Acacia, Ms. Lindberg worked as a project manager for Cresleigh Homes in San Francisco. She received her BA from the University of California at San Diego.
Acquisitions/Capital Markets
Ms. Clarke joined Acacia in 2010 and serves as Vice President within the Income Property Division. She is responsible for the sourcing, financing and disposition of investments in her covered markets. Prior to joining Acacia, Ms. Clarke worked at McDowell Properties, a national real estate investment company specializing in the acquisition of multifamily property. She received her BA from the University of Arizona.
Mr. Grubbs joined Acacia in 2012 and serves as Vice President within the Income Property Division. He is responsible for the sourcing, financing and disposition of investments in his covered markets. Prior to joining Acacia, Mr. Grubbs worked at GE Capital Real Estate, an international commercial real estate investment company. He received his BS in Economics from Penn State University.
Mr. Teshima serves as an Assistant Vice President within the Income Property Division with analytical responsibilities in both asset management and acquisitions. Prior to joining Acacia, Mr. Teshima worked at Carmel Partners, a San Francisco-based multifamily developer, where he worked within the Capital Finance division. He received his BS in Business Administration from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley.
Mr. Formico serves as an Analyst within the Income Property Division with analytical responsibilities in both asset management and acquisitions. He recently received his B.S.C. in Finance from the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University.
Asset Management/Construction Management
Mr. Dobbel joined Acacia in 2006 and serves as Senior Vice President of Asset Management with responsibility for overseeing the operations of multifamily assets. Mr. Dobbel has been actively involved in the management of multifamily real estate for over 30 years. Prior to joining Acacia, Mr. Dobbel held positions in asset management for both public and private multifamily investment firms including Pacific Property Company and Essex Property Trust. Mr. Dobbel holds a BA in Economics from San Jose State University. Mr. Dobbel served as Chairman of the Board of the California Apartment Association, Tri-County Division in 2008 and currently sits on the Executive Committee for the California Apartment Association Board of Directors.
Ms. Vickers joined Acacia in 2021 and serves as Senior Vice President of Asset Management with responsibility for overseeing the operations of multifamily assets. Ms. Vickers has been actively involved in the management of multifamily real estate for over 26 years. Prior to joining Acacia, Ms. Vickers held senior positions within the industry including at Sares-Regis Group, Lewis Group of Companies, and Equity Residential. Responsibilities have included new construction lease ups, value add renovation/repositioning, and stabilized assets in California, Arizona, and Colorado. Ms. Vickers is a CCRM, AHM, and is a CPM candidate in addition to holding a California Real Estate Salesperson License. Ms. Vickers has served on the Board of Directors for the California Apartment Association, Inland Empire Division since 2011, holding the position of Board Chair in 2016/2017.
Mr. Behringer joined Acacia in 2014 and serves as Senior Vice President of Construction Management with responsibility for overseeing Capital Expenditures and Renovations for the multifamily assets. Mr. Behringer has been actively involved with maintaining assets, capital improvements and renovations for over 25 years. Prior to joining Acacia, he was employed by BRE Properties overseeing Capital Improvements for the Northern Division of the company as well as oversaw Facilities Management activities in the Denver Market. Prior to working for BRE Properties Mr. Behringer worked extensively for Archstone Communities, Essex Properties Trust, and Western National Property Management.
Mr. Gonterman joined Acacia in 2021 and serves as Vice President of Asset Management with responsibility of overseeing the operations of multifamily assets. Mr. Gonterman has been actively involved in the management of multifamily real estate for over 19 years. Prior to joining Acacia, Mr. Gonterman held senior positions within the industry including at Equity Residential, Aimco, and Sack Properties. Responsibilities have included managing 3,000 unit portfolios in the San Francisco Bay Area, new construction lease ups, and operations change management. He holds a BS in Business Management from San Jose State University.
Mr. Rego joined Acacia Capital in 2024 and serves as Vice President of Construction Management with the responsibility of overseeing Capital Expenditures and Renovations for the multifamily assets. Mr. Rego has been actively involved in maintaining multifamily real estate and preserving assets in the Bay Area for 13 years and brings with him a background in residential construction. He has worked extensively for Archstone Communities and UDR, Inc. Prior to joining Acacia, he was employed by Equity Residential and oversaw Facilities Management in the Bay Area, managing a portfolio of 5,000 units. He earned a BA in Business Management from Loyola Marymount University.
Ms. Sunga joined Acacia in 2006 and serves as Assistant Vice President within the Income Property Division. While at Acacia, she held responsibility for office management and administrative support. She has over 19 years of experience in technology and office management.
Accounting/Investor Relations
Ms. Jarab joined Acacia in 2004 and serves as Executive Vice President and Controller with responsibility for managing Acacia’s accounting staff, all internal accounting and control functions. She has oversight of investor relations, human resources administration and entity compliance management. She has over 32 years of experience in accounting and finance in the real estate industry. Prior to joining Acacia, Ms. Jarab was the controller for a privately held construction company based in Phoenix. She earned her BS in Business Administration with an accounting emphasis from the University of Phoenix and is a certified public accountant.
Ms. Perez serves as a Senior Accountant. Prior to joining Acacia, she worked for Apple as Retail & Marketing Accounts Payable Specialist, on the Finance team. She has developed her accounting career through various positions in administration and accounting. She received a B.S. in Business and Management Economics, from the University of California, Merced.
Ms. Castaneda joined Acacia in 2016 and serves as Office Manager and Executive Assistant. Prior to joining Acacia, she held various administrative and office management positions. Her primary duties are office management, IT support, and administrative support to our staff.
